When a man chooses to dishonor his parents he is sewing to the wind. He will according to God, reap the whirlwind.  https://bitesizebiblestudy.blogspot.com/2019/01/the-serious-consequences-of-dishonoring.html Really good and thoughtful
I  remember a time when my first born was very young and an only child. My son went to visit relatives with his dad and I went alone to visit my family. We visited Sea World and San Diego Zoo. Every time I saw something neat I turned to show it to my son. He was not there. It was okay because he was happy with his dad and we would be all back together in a few days.  A few weeks later an old friend came back to my church. She had transferred away with her military husband and in her absence she had been in a bad car accident and lost her firstborn. When she came and visited her second son had joined the family but that did not fix the hole in her heart. When I looked her the thought came to my mind, "acquainted with grief" from Isaiah 53. I knew she was as well. I thought about the days at the parks and I thought how a young mom would feel every day, she would turn to tell her son something or show her son something and he would not be there. Never again be there.  Our Saviou
God's word is inspired. Not just the words but the order. When God wrote the 10 commandments the order is important. Honor thy Father and Mother comes before Thou shalt not kill for a reason. The reason is because how you treat and honor your parents is a true and actual reflection of how you treat God. Since your relationship with God determines your eternal destiny how you treat your parents is somewhat of an indication of your destination. When Adam sinned, the Bible clearly states that Adam was not deceived as Eve was. Adam knew what he was doing. It has been written by various authors that Adam ended up in choosing Eve over God. What would have happened had Adam chose to obey God we will never know, however, in knowingly sinning he damned the whole human race. Was it just disobedience? Was it even idolatry, putting his wife before God? I am not sure. However, I am sure that loving your wife and "leaving and cleaving" does not abrogate the responsibility to Honor your
When a pastor says, "I have a teaching ministry." what he is actually saying is that he plans to shirk many of his duties, unless he believes in plurality of elders and the work is divided. One should reference, II Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom . 2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. They may even neglect Proverbs 27: 23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. Instead of preaching they give a nice lecture that convicts no one and in the end makes the people who attend self satisfied with their own
I Timothy 1                                                                                           Exodus 20 for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers Honour thy father and thy mother for manslayers,   Thou shalt not kill. whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind Thou shalt not commit adultery. for menstealers Thou shalt not steal.   for liars, for perjured persons, Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.   Why is murderers of Fathers or mothers instead of honour? Ironside says: Let me say this, dear young people, you do not
Holman's Bible dictionary says about the Heart Not only is the heart associated with the activities of the mind and the will, but it is also closely connected to the feelings and affections of a person. Emotions such as joy originate in the heart ( Psalm 4:7 ; Isaiah 65:14 ). Other emotions are ascribed to the heart , especially in the Old Testament. Nabal's fear is described by the phrase: “his heart died within him” ( 1 Samuel 25:37 ; compare Psalm 143:4 ). Discouragement or despair is described by the phrase “heaviness in the heart ” which makes it stoop ( Proverbs 12:25 ). Again, Ecclesiastes 2:20 says, “Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labor which I took under the sun.” Another emotion connected with the heart is sorrow. John 16:6 says, “because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart .” Proverbs 25:20 , describes sorrow as having “an heavy heart .” The heart is also the seat of the affection of love
So when talking about the heart here are a few verses to help us understand "feelings". Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 27:41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart , The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob. Leviticus 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart : thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. Deuteronomy 17:20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel. Job 1:5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in
