In this blog I am working on emotions and their role in the Christian life.

I find that many people equate feelings with fact, or as completely valid or as important as facts. Since as a Christian I can say that any "fact" that does not line up with the Bible is not a "fact" but something else, most probably an opinion. 

The Bible (and in my blog that means the KJV) hardly ever mentions the word "feelings" or "feel" and when it does, it is talking about the physical sense of touch. For example Genesis 27:And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

So how does the Bible describe feelings as we know them today.  After much meditation and study I found that they are encompassed in the term "heart".

Therefore, things we know about the heart from the Bible includes: Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

So when we are told to trust our feelings, we are being told to trust what God has said is not in any way to be trusted, for it will lie to us and we will never know it.

 I find more and more that I cannot express myself in a safe place that does not offend someone or be accused of attacking the viewer. Almost everyone is more concerned about these things: 1. their feelings,  2. being respected the way they define respect and demand to be "respected",  3. being "comfortable",  4. triggers,  5. issues, 6. perceived aggression's,  7. boundaries,  8. emotions  9. space, They are more concerned about themselves in a very narcissistic way than they are about anyone else. No one wants to talk about truth! No one wants to be confronted with Truth. No one wants to be reproved for inappropriate behavior, sin or anything else. If they feel conviction it is your fault for even alluding to it. Now these entitled persons, who by the way are mostly young, have no problem doing to you what you cannot do to them! I  remember a time when my first born was very young and an only child. My son went to visit relatives with his dad and I went alone to visit my family. We visited Sea World and San Diego Zoo. Every time I saw something neat I turned to show it to my son. He was not there. It was okay because he was happy with his dad and we would be all back together in a few days.  A few weeks later an old friend came back to my church. She had transferred away with her military husband and in her absence she had been in a bad car accident and lost her firstborn.
